Multiple Walkers had a summer goal to take Top Shelf to Nantucket in 2024. I have been asking every year since 2010 when we took the OG boat over (it was so long ago I had a boyfriend, haha) but every year on the one weekend day per summer the conditions were right (needs to be 1-2 foot seas all day with little wind), Captain Greg came up with some excuse. One cannot have excuses when you put a goal in a Powerpoint presentation, so this year on the last Saturday in July we did it! We had the best day, really a 10/10 adventure, and I hope it's not another 14 years before we do it again.

Ferry to Dinner in Charlestown
On a Friday night in July Stephanie and I met for dinner after work at Monument in Charlestown. She had worked from home that day so she only had to walk a few minutes but I was in the office so took the ferry from Rowe's Wharf to the Navy Yard and walked from there. During this dinner I tried to convince Stephanie to come to the Cape with me the following day as we were scheduled to take Top Shelf to Nantucket for the day (a key summer goal!). Unfortunately, she declined and missed my favorite day of the summer. Stay tuned for our Nantucket adventure next!

Buck Moon
The weekend of the Buck Moon was a great one even though it started off rough with a nail in my tire that required me to wait to drive to the Cape until Saturday morning when I could get a new tire at Hogan Tire. Things improved once Stephanie and I crossed the bridge with fun activities including a comedy night, a day out on the boat to clean off barnacles (an activity I think only one Walker enjoys, guess who), and dinner at La Civetta.

Weekend Activities with Mardo and Ouiser
The weekend following my July vacation week was full of the usual Cape activities (swimming, going out on the boat, hanging out in the backyard) with the added bonus of having the Walkers of Reading with us. We also made progress on our goals this weekend; for example, Casey, Dad, and I also went for a run around Great Harbors, mostly because we're athletes but also because we were in training for the Great Harbors 5K in August, which was one of Dad's goals. Now that we're into fall I miss weekend runs down the Cape quite a bit (it's so hilly here).
